When a kiwi family lived among the ever-growing mountains of toxic rubbish generated by an Asian megacity, they began to dream of a zero-waste world.

They gathered with a few local friends around a borrowed sewing machine, and Mutiara was born (it means pearl, after the precious women we serve).

Not only are these hand-made products healthier for your body, but every purchase supports the upskilled work of women normally dependent on rubbish-picking income.

All our products either reduce rubbish or made from perfectly good resources rescued from the waste stream.

Since when did saving the planet feel so good?
